概要/Outline	J.デューイの『民主主義と教育』を精読する。 デューイによる教育哲学研究の総決算ともいえる『民主主義と教育』を各章ごと、読解する。 This course is an advanced investigation of philosophy of eduation focusing on major developments in American thought. We will focus on John Dewey's Democracy and Education.
到達目標/Objectives	現代の教育哲学の古典である『民主主義と教育』の精読を通して、現代の教育論、教育科学、教育政策などに関する批判的パースペクティブを得ることを目標とする。 Throughour the investigations of Dewey's text, we will get the basic understaings of philosophy of education and eduational research.
授業の内容/Contents	デューイの『民主主義と教育』は、難解ながら、プラトンの『国家』、ルソーの『エミール』と並んで、教育学研究、教育哲学研究では重要な文献であり続けている。 2016年前後には、出版後1世紀を経たことから、各国で、本書の意義や教育理論、教育実践への影響などについて盛んに議論され、その成果なも公刊されてきた。 授業では、『民主主義と教育』を各章ごとに読解すると同時に、本書に関するガイドブック、解説書（いずれも英文）などを参考にしながら、本書の歴史的、現代的な意義について探究し、議論を深めていく予定である。 詳細は9月に提示の予定。 As well known, Dewey's Democracy and Education stands as a canonical work in philosophy of education, Sidney Hook, one of Dewey's disciple, once wrote ih his introduction to Democracy and Education that it is "the one book that no student concerned with philosophy of education today should leave unread." The text covers a wide range of educational issues, includhing teaching, learning, educational materials, subject matters, educational aims, educational values concept of study, curriculum and so on. Through the precise investigation of text, we will inqire into Dewey's profound claim to reconstruction of democratic society.
