近代日本の高等教育の歴史を、その制度や機関の展開、それが日本社会に果たした役割に着目しつつたどる。その全体的な姿を掴むと共に、可能なかぎり個別機関の歴史にも触れ、マクロとミクロの両側面から近代日本の高等教育システムの展開をみる。そのことで、高等教育にかかわる研究や諸課題についての高度な専門的知見と研究遂行能力を深めることをめざす。
| This course introduces the history of modern higher education system in Japan, focusing on its functions played in Japanese society. Along with an understanding of its overall characteristics, the history of the individual higher education institutions are analyzed. Student should be able to look at the development of modern Japan's higher education system from both macro and micro-level perspectives. By doing so, we aim to deepen our advanced professional knowledge and research performance in issues related to higher education. This course will be taught in Japanese.

日本の高等教育の歴史についての基本的な知識を身につける。そのことで、現在の高等教育を歴史的視点から相対的できる視点を獲得するとともに、わが国の高等教育の歴史的展開にかかわる専門知識と研究技能を身につける。

| 授業の内容/Contents
|
テキストや資料にもとづき授業担当者がレクチャーをおこなうとともに、受講者にはテキストの一部について報告を求める。 | さらに、受講者には、いずれかの大学を選択し、その大学の歴史に関する調査・発表・レポート執筆を求める。 １ 世界の高等教育の歴史（１回〜３回） ２ 近代日本の高等教育 概観と諸側面（４回〜１３回） ３ 個人発表（１４〜１５回）
