| 概要/Outline
|
本授業は，ニューヨーク市立大学短期留学プログラムとオレゴン大学教育インターンシッププログラムの準備教育の授業である。本授業は，米国の教育問題，社会問題の知識を習得し，それを現地のコミュニティで実践することを通じて，将来の留学や研究、国際人としての素養の基礎づくりに役立てることを目的とする。
| This course will be a field study in nature, taking students to multicultural organizations within the Nagoya area, along with a two-week study abroad program at City University of New York, Queens College, or a five-month study program at University of Oregon. We will deal with social issues amd issues in education within the United States, visiting community organizations to observe how they deal wtih such issues. This course will prepare students to become responsible global citizens, with awareness and interest in social and educational problems.
| 到達目標/Objectives

本授業の達成目標は以下３つである。 | （１）米国の教育問題，社会問題の知識を習得する。 （２）派遣先大学で授業を受ける上で必要なアカデミックスキルを習得する。 （３）日本と米国のコミュニケーションスタイルの違いを理解する。 以上の３つの目標を達成し，本授業終了時点で，国際社会で通用する英語能力（TOEFLiBT80点程度）を有する人材を育成する。 The objectives of this course are threefold. 1) Becoming aware of social and educational issues of United States 2) Attaining necessary learning skills to prepare for study abroad 3) Understanding differences in communication between people of different cultures By taking this course, we aim to have students to attain practical English level adequate for study abroad, and to gain actual experience in intercultural communication.

準備教育及び事務手続きは参加するプログラムによって毎年異なる。そのため，詳細は各プログラム説明会の中で説明がある。大まかな授業の内容としては下記参照。 | 事前授業① ５月下旬 ・自己紹介、プログラム全体の流れ、出発前グループ活動について ・出発前に必要な事務手続きについて ・米国の教育問題，社会問題に関する講義 ・グループワーク・ディスカッション（日本語） 事前授業② ６月中旬 ・派遣先大学担当者と打ち合わせ ・グループ活動中間発表・ディスカッション（英語） 事前授業③ 7月中旬 ・出発前最終ガイダンス、保険、航空券などに関する説明 ・グループ活動最終発表・ディスカッション（英語） 事前授業④ 7月上旬／下旬 ・全学の安全・危機管理に関する説明会に参加する。 Registration and course content will vary by study abroad program. A pre-course session will be held ahead of time to disclose the course content. There are four parts to the course: 1) Preparation classes (late May) 2) English discussion classes (June) 3) Orientation to travel and study abroad, English discussion classes 4) Overseas safety and security, crisis management.

| 成績評価方法/Evaluation
|
参加するプログラムによって異なる。成績評価の方法は各プログラム説明会の中で説明がある。成績評価の基準は100点満点で60点以上を合格とする。
| The program differs by year. Assignments and papers will be decided and announced at the beginning of first class.The passing score is more than 60% out of 100%.
| 履修条件/Conditions
|
・本授業は集中講義であり、申込〆切は、5月14日(木)とする。申し込みは，文系教務課（教育）で「異文化間教育演習」を履修登録する。 | ・本授業の履修登録が, 各プログラムの参加の形となり，プログラム費用などが発生するため注意すること。 ・各プログラムの参加にあたり，他の授業や試験のスケジュールを十分勘案の上、履修登録を行うこと。 ・本授業の履修登録に際して、4月及び5月に開催されている説明会に参加し、各プログラムの違いと本授業の目的・意図を十分理解した上で履修登録すること。 This class is intensive, and will not be conducted on a weekly basis. Students must sign up by May 14.
| その他の注意/Remarks
|
学期途中での履修の取りやめを希望する場合は、担当教員の許可が必要。ただし、プログラムのキャンセルは、キャンセル時期に応じてキャンセル料の金銭的負担が発生し、別途手続きが必要なため、担当教員に至急、相談の上、指示を仰ぐこと。
| This course is for those who will be engaging in either study abroad program, and requires the commitment to go abroad. Withdrawal requres prior consent of instructor. Withdrawal may incur costs associated with tuition to be prepayed to the American universities.
